Position Description

Werner Ahari Mangel (WAM) recently launched and is looking to hire an associate or counsel level attorney with at least several years of experience in monitoring D&O and/or professional liability matters. Experience monitoring public company securities cases is a plus. WAM is a dynamic 24-lawyer insurance coverage boutique that represents insurance companies in litigation, monitoring, and counseling matters involving D&O liability, financial institutions professional liability, employment liability, cyber liability, fidelity bond, private equity, and reps and warranties insurance policies.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements

  • Member of DC bar or qualified to waive into DC bar
  • Minimum 3-4 years of insurance coverage monitoring experience
  • Strong writing and analytical abilities
  • Excellent communication skills

Position Description

Boutique law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support the insurance coverage litigation team. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and work independently. Must have knowledge of eFiling procedures for Federal and State Courts. Additionally, excellent spelling and proofreading skills are required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare shells for various pleadings, discovery, motions, and correspondence
  • Ability to file (electronically or by courier service) briefs and other documents with various federal, state, and appellate courts with minimal supervision
  • Review defense invoices
  • Create and maintain defense cost spreadsheets
  • Calculate and input case-related deadlines into firm’s docketing program
  • Maintain electronic files for client matters
  • Provide administrative support to litigation attorneys/paralegals
  • Provide exceptional, detailed-oriented skills in reviewing and proofreading correspondence and documents
  • Produce accurate documents and correspondence in a timely manner
  • Manage multiple attorney calendars using Outlook calendars to schedule meetings and appointments
  • Oversee arrangements for in-house and external depositions, including booking court reporters
  • Perform other administrative duties as they arise

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as litigation legal assistant in a law firm setting
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Extensive experience handling and completing State and Federal eFilings
  • Proficient to advanced user of Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Proficient to advanced user of PDF programs such as Adobe
  • Detail-oriented and highly motivated with the ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Impressive command of grammar and punctuation
  • Experience with NetDocs, FileSite, iManage, or equivalent document management system required.

Boutique law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking an experienced full time Paralegal to support the insurance coverage litigation team. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and work independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting and sending assorted documents to clients, counsel and courts as needed, such as correspondence, deposition notices, briefs, motions, orders, petitions, and discovery
  • Cite checking and bluebooking court briefs
  • Support attorneys in litigation and/or other trial-related matters, to include
    assistance with trial research, preparation, and presentation
  • Review and audit defense invoices submitted for reimbursement for compliance with billing guidelines
  • Experienced with e-filing in multiple jurisdictions
  • Managing case deadlines across multiple cases filed in different jurisdictions
  • Maintain a very busy caseload
  • Assisting in document review and organization
  • Preparing privilege logs
  • Assisting with depositions and digesting deposition transcripts
  • Case maintenance (organization of files such as correspondence, pleadings, discovery, etc.)
  • Reviewing court dockets
  • Assisting with witness interviews and communications
  • Coordinating expert retention and medical defenses
  • Calendar maintenance

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years litigation experience, insurance a plus
  • Strong Organization, oral and written communication, and analytical skills
  • Bluebooking experience
  • Prior trial support experience is advantageous
  • Ability to learn quickly and function in a fast-paced environment
  • Creative problem solver who takes initiative to accomplish tasks with a minimal level of supervision
  • Proficiency in using Case Management Software
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experienced with a variety of computer applications: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Westlaw, NetDocs, LMS/SurePoint (a plus)
